As a philosophy, kintsugi is about embracing the flawed or the imperfect. It is stated common beauty when traces of cracks or other damages are restored, even in humans. Objects like ceramic pottery or other heirlooms could have been passed down for generations, and while in use, they may crack or break – repairing them in a traditional kintsugi way is making them arguably more beautiful; a way of respecting those who came and crafted before.
